Testimonials and Serenity Babies

Tia is such a wonderful midwife! During our appointments she never made me feel rushed and was willing to talk through anything I was having trouble with or was curious about. One of the greatest things about Tia is she makes sure you know your options and let's you make your choice without judgement. Her unique training in craniosacral therapy makes those aches and pains of pregnancy much easier to deal with. During labor she is very supportive without getting in the way of what a woman in labor needs to do. Her postpartum care is very thorough, making sure little one is latching on correctly and that mom is healing nicely. Overall I found Tia to be very supportive and knowledgeable. If in years to come we ever decide to have another baby she would be my first choice."

Tia was my daughters home birth midwife. She was amazing. She pays attention to details and help my daughter have a very healthy pregnancy as well as a gentle calm home water birth. I also have worked with Tia professionally as both a birth/postpartum doula and a midwifery student. Tia provides a service filled with experience and gentleness. Helping Mommies to have the best birth experience safely is very apparent. Tia provides a variety of services, such as child birth education, cranial sacral therapy, placenta encapsulation and more. It is always a treat when Tia does a belly draw, that is where she draws the baby and the position on mommies belly a few weeks before a baby is to arrive, providing yet another wonderful opportunity to have some fun maternity pictures taken. I would recommend Tia as a Midwife over and over again."

If you are looking for a midwife....LOOK NO FURTHER! You have found her! There are no words that can explain how much I love and respect Tia! We have gone through 2 very different journeys and births with her (one by water in a center and one by land at home) and with each she was absolutely amazing! She is a very attentive and knowledgeable midwife and respectful of whatever your personal or spiritual beliefs are. Even when she is as tired as mama is she will be comforting, compassionate and supportive. I miss having her actively in my world. She became like a sister to me during our visits which are much more like a sitting down and catching up with a dear friend and nothing like the the stark western world where the doctors push you through like cattle. Tia, You are a Goddess!"

My husband and I met Tia three weeks before our first child’s due date. We had been planning a natural birth in the hospital, but felt like the childbirth classes we had already taken had not prepared us enough. I was terrified of interventions in the hospital, and wanted my husband to be as prepared as possible to be my advocate. Luckily, I found Tia’s website, and she was able to schedule class sessions for us. After meeting with her for our first session, we got in the car and the first thing that I said to my husband was that I wanted to transfer care from my OB to Tia. I just could not go back to spending 3 minutes a week with my stoic OB after the glimpse of midwife care we had with Tia! I am still amazed by all that Tia did to prepare in those three weeks, from appointments with me to introducing us to any helpers who might be present. When I did go into labor on my due date, Tia was constantly available, and thanks to her we had an amazing birth experience. Birthing in the water was such an empowering experience, and being tucked into our own bed with our baby while Tia took care of everything else was the most amazing feeling. Our follow-up care has been so thorough and personal, and our baby is absolutely thriving. I knew from the beginning that a hospital was not where I wanted to have our baby, but there is so much misinformation about home birth and the need to birth in a hospital first. I am so glad that we found a provider we could trust so much, and that my only birth memories will be in our home. Tia is so much more important to us than any doctor we have ever met, and she will deliver our next baby when the time comes.

It will be hard to put into words the tremendous role that Tia played in the life of myself and my family, but I will try. We met Tia partway through my pregnancy, as we were looking for someone to teach us about hypnobirthing. When she came to our home for our first session, I felt instantly connected to her. Like someone else said in another review about her, appointments with Tia always felt like chatting with an old friend. Tia offered us support and care in a way that I have never experienced from a typical medical doctor, or even from the midwifery group that I had originally chosen for my son's birth. She offered us a wealth of information, much of which I think is often skipped out on in more conventional maternity care practices. I think just about everything I learned about pregnancy and birth I learned from Tia! She is incredibly warm, kind, and easy to talk with. I felt like I could go to her with any question or need and was never worried about her response. After developing a relationship with Tia, I trusted her completely with caring for me during my pregnancy and then during the labor and birth. Tia is one of those individuals who once you get to know, and if you choose to work closely with her, you will never, ever forget. Especially because you won't want to forget her. I actually want to stay living in Oregon as long as possible not only because I love the area, but because I want any more babies I have to come into the world with the love and care of Tia as our midwife and friend. The day that we met Tia was a day that our lives changed forever. Wonderful opportunities opened up for us, such as having a homebirth, a water birth, and all the other wonderful things she opened up our eyes to. Because of Tia, I am now studying to become a birth doula. Tia Rich is someone who spends her life making the world a better place by caring for babies and their families and spreading the message that birth can be a safe, beautiful, and sacred event for everyone involved. Tia, we love you. Thank you for it all.
