Parenting Choices and Guilt

When it comes to parenting there are so many choices to make and thus so many ways to feel guilty about how we might be messing up.   Parents read books, listen to their parents and other parents.  They try to make decisions that will benefit their children to become amazing well adjusted people.

What an amazingly huge responsibility in our hands.  I can speak from experience that in many ways your sure you must be doing it wrong.  That your child must be the only one experiencing difficulties, or issues.   the good news is that you are not alone, and that you are probably not doing it wrong.

There are many methods of raising our children, there are a multitude of choices that are all viable options to choose.  There is no one way that is right, just as there is no one specific type of human being.  Each of our children are different and thus require different things in life.

When it comes down to it, I believe if you are working from a place of love, and respect for your little person your probably doing a pretty good job. Don't let your self fall into a place of fear and guilt.

That being said, there are ways of finding support as a parent that allow you to see other ways or parenting and also allow you to see your not alone. Sometimes that is a big factor for parents, to have community.

Look on Facebook and see if there are some local parent groups, Meetup also has a source for groups to help you connect.  Find the parents that align with your style of parenting... Allow yourself to learn form those with older kids what is to come your way and how you might like to handle it.  For those little ones often there are groups that you can connect with at local Childrens Museums and event areas such as zoo's..
